Flow limiter - simple, inexpensive, effective

Flow limiters help to keep water flows and similar media constant without auxiliary energy or to limit them. Saving water, operating sustainably and responsibly, directly saves costs. You also protect flow-sensitive parts such as pumps, filters, stuffing boxes and water distribution systems and thus prevent failure or damage.

Theory of operation

Pipes, especially when they are connected together, are often exposed to pressure fluctuations. If one pipe is switched off, the pressure increases in all the others. This leads to increased flow.

Our flow limiters BA, BB, BC and BF (also known as flow rate limiters, control valves or stabilizers) work purely mechanically without auxiliary energy. Consisting of a cone made of stainless steel and a flexible control star, they compensate for the changes in flow caused by pressure fluctuations.

As the pressure increases, the star is pressed into the cone. This reduces the effective diameter so that the flow remains constant. If the pressure falls back to the initial value, the control star moves back to its initial position, the pipe diameter increases and the flow rate remains constant.

Flow rates from 1 to 420 l/min at temperatures up to 200 °C can be regulated in this way. The devices are available with nominal widths from ½ "to 4". All internal parts are made of stainless steel, the lifespan of the devices is up to 20 years.
